In the course of any economic activity of the enterprise, waste is generated. At the same time, it is not at all necessary that the enterprise would be engaged in production or in any other way be employed in the industrial sector. Any legal entity, even having only one office or warehouse space, is a source of waste generation (waste paper, household waste, fluorescent lighting lamps, etc.).
INVENTORY OF PRODUCTION WASTE is an operation that makes it possible to accurately determine the qualitative and quantitative parameters of waste. This is necessary to keep records of waste and develop standards for their generation.
WHO DEVELOPS THE WASTE INVENTORY?In accordance with the legislation on waste management, an inventory of production waste can be carried out both by the enterprise itself (legal entities and individual entrepreneurs who own the waste), and legal entities authorized by them.

The inventory is carried out at least once a year at the time determined by the enterprise, but not earlier than July 1 of the reporting year.
An enterprise should carry out an early inventory of waste in the following cases:1.Identification or formation of new types of production waste;
2. Making changes to technological processes of production;
3. Changes in the range of products;
4. Changes in the composition or type of raw materials and materials used to obtain products;
5. Reconstruction, modernization or re-profiling of production;
6. At the request (instruction) of the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Natural Resources;
7.By decision of the organization that owns the waste.
The head of the waste owner issues an order to conduct an inventory of production waste, in which the following points must be reflected:1. Set the timing of the inventory and preparation of data for the inventory;
2. Appoint an inventory commission;
3. Determine the list of structural divisions in which the inventory is carried out, and the responsible officials involved in the inventory in these structural divisions;
4. Determine the list of persons admitted to conducting an inventory in the organization-owner of the waste in the event that the inventory is carried out by legal entities or individual entrepreneurs specially authorized by the owner of the waste to conduct an inventory.
Based on the results of the inventory of waste, an act of inventory of production waste is drawn up. This document is developed according to the approved form and includes the following data:1. Title page (drawn in the prescribed form), signed by the members and the chairman of the inventory commission and approved by the head of the enterprise;
2. Information about the sources of production waste (formulated as an application in the prescribed form);
3. Information on the amount of production waste generated during the inventory period (drawn up as an application in the prescribed form).
The results of the inventory are used to develop documents regulating waste management at the enterprise (waste management instructions), to obtain permits for disposal or storage of production waste, as well as to fill out forms of state statistical reporting and much more.
