WASTE PASSPORT is a document that describes information about the properties of waste, their level of toxicity and their relationship to the hazard class. Based on this information, measures are prescribed for the safe handling of waste, namely: Preparation of premises and containers for storage or warehousing.
A waste passport is drawn up for each type of waste generated by an enterprise in the course of its activities and contains information on whether the generated waste belongs to a certain hazard class, which is determined on the basis of the chemical and physical composition and other characteristics of the waste.
In total, there are 5 classes of waste hazard, in accordance with the degree of danger of waste for human health and the environment:1.First class - extremely hazardous waste;
2.Second class - waste of increased (high) degree of danger;
3. The third class is waste with moderate hazard;
4. The fourth class is waste that poses a slight danger to human health;
5.Fifth class - practically harmless waste.
Passports are being developed for waste grades 1-4. However, to confirm that the waste generated by the enterprise belongs to class 5, laboratory analyzes and a calculation of the hazard class are required.
What information is indicated in the waste passport:1. The chemical composition and physical characteristics of the waste are indicated;
2. The technology of waste generation is described, or the process of loss of consumer properties by products;
3. A specific waste processing method is recommended;
4. Describes precautions for moving waste;
5. Allowed volumes of waste (limits) are indicated - PNOOLR.
